The Inauguration of Barack Obama as the 44th President of the United States marked a new day in America. It was the first time in the nation's 232-year history that an African-American became President of the United States. On the occasion of this new beginning for America, President Obama made a call to American citizens for service. Young people in America can answer this call to service by staying away from drugs and getting an education.
As President of the United States, Mr. Obama serves as Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Services. The men and women who volunteer for military service defend our nation against all enemies - foreign and domestic. Many enemies of our nation do not use guns or bombs to threaten our nation. Some try to destroy our nation through drug trafficking.
President Obama must deal with threats to our national security posed by drug dealers who would bring illegal drugs into our nation to sell to our youth. Young people who sell and use drugs work against what President Obama does to keep our nation safe from harm. Therefore, by staying away from illegal drugs, (not selling or using them), young people help President Obama keep our nation safe from harm. All young people can help President Obama become a very successful president by how they live their lives in their communities. This includes keeping their community safe from illegal drugs.
Young people can also help President Obama by staying in school and getting an education. To be a successful President, every President needs support from the people in local communities. Such support includes thinking of ways to make their community better. Education helps young people sharpen their minds. People with sharp minds think of great ideas. Therefore, young people who stay in school and get an education sharpen their minds so that they can produce great ideas on how to make their community better. President Obama needs support from young people with great ideas on ways to improve their community and the skills and know how to follow through on those ideas. Young people all over America who stay in school and get a good education prepare themselves to help President Obama by providing community support.
